Latest Doncaster Live 2010

The latest line-up for Doncaster biggest live music festival has now been revealed…
Higher Rhythm’s Steve Mundin: “It’s great to see this live music event happening in Doncaster for the sixth year and with Sine FM 102.6 being Doncaster’s only locally owned radio station and us being so supportive of live local music through our parent company, Higher Rhythm, we are only too pleased to be the official radio partner for Doncaster Live 2010.”
The event has been subject to criticism in recent years for apparent lack of publicity but this year’s event has a good buzz about it with an active Twitter campaign and Facebook page making for a well informed audience…
Heather Brown, Festival organiser: “With the live music festival scene being one of the biggest growing areas of the music industry, its essential that Doncaster stays in line with the national trend to be able to sustain and build our local music scene. Doncaster live has earned its place as the leading local live music event over many years so we are pleased to be able to, once again, deliver this event for Doncaster, and present high quality musical acts, totally free of charge.”

Couldn’t be happier, people will always whine about it, truth is the organisers have sorted us out with a great free event, again!
saliva de chica on August 18th, 2010Although the festival is ‘FREE’ don’t forget the festival is funded with public money so people do have a right to question how it is being spent.
However, it is great that Doncaster has a big free music festival to focus on. Maybe a little more input from the Doncaster gig goers might go some way to attracting acts that are considered ‘current’ rather than bands that appear to be in the Autumn of their years?
I’m being picky though – Long live Doncaster Live !!
David D on August 18th, 2010I’d usually agree but all the local bands i can see dont fit into that category at all?? Ask gig goers and they all just want their mates on, regardless of quality
saliva de chica on August 18th, 2010I can see both sides of that…
The festival is awesome for £0 – how can people complain at £0?? However, there is something to be said for getting some feedback on what bands people might want to see. I wonder if there is any post-event feedback to see who thought the bands booked were relevant to them and what they liked/disliked? <- I don’t know the answer to that.
It will be good – watch what bands you like (same price (£) either way:) ), there’s surely something for everyone on that bill.
destroy!_robot on August 18th, 2010‘Bands that are in the autumn of their years’?????????
Pandora on August 20th, 2010Most of the musicians are under 30 years old. Vintage band members are about 17 years old – old frumps indeed !!!!
Incidentally, it is not funded by public money at all – absolutely NOTHING comes from the tax payer.
It’s a great event. Can’t wait.
How is it funded Pandora?
destroy!_robot on August 20th, 2010Funding from partnerships and sponsorship, sales of services, sales of promotions which generates income and income secured from business advertising budgets.
Pandora on August 20th, 2010‘Bands that are in the autumn of their years’?????????
Terrorvision filled a 10K capacity tent at Knebworth this year, so a few fans still follow them!!
The line up on both nights looks like it’s aimed at an older and wider crowd the later it gets, good idea? I think so.
Futures should pull a big crowd.
Local bands have a great chance to prove they can play on a festival stage, hope they make the most of it.
I hope Donny Council keep DL going, best night of the year.

Bee Been on August 20th, 2010Thanks for the info Pandora, it was a genuine question not a snipe…
BB – I hope it carries on too, I’m sure it will – people are very excited about this year’s event…
destroy!_robot on August 20th, 2010Didn’t see it as a snipe at all DR. A lot of people are interested in the funding and I saw it as a genuine question
Pandora on August 21st, 2010Great comments from BB
Hope Don Live keeps running for years – really excited about it.
This years Donny Live is the best organised yet for defo and although you will never please all the people all the time when it comes to putline ups, I know how much time Heather has put into trying to secure acts for this years festival (voluntarily) so fair play to the lass and huge respect to all you donny musos and fans for getting behind this once again
Sure, there are acts we would have all liked to see up there, but this event is run on a fraction of the budget of even relatively small festivals like Tramlines, so I guess Stevie Wonder would be slightly out of reach
Really looking forward to seeing you all down there on BOTH days showing love for Donny Music… I will be theer, possibly drunk, but there for defo
steve mundin on August 28th, 2010Hi all. What’s the policy on drinking. Can u take your own. Thanks.
Dawn on September 2nd, 2010There will be a festival bar on site but some people do take their own drinks. However all cans/bottles will have to be poured into plastic drinking glasses. Either take your own plastics or get them from the stewards and staff on site and give them the empty bottles.
Pandora on September 3rd, 2010last night was EPIC great bands and atmosphere ill be going tonight aswell
elliott on September 5th, 2010Saturday at Doncaster Live was brilliant , Seeing how hard all the staff worked was a real eye opener for those who think this day is taken lighlty you really should think again! , The security teams out front of stage and backstage were proper nice blokes very helpful and the big guy i believe his name is Spider ? never stopped all night helped with questions and access and organised his team spot on .The crews who helped get the next set up in place worked bloody hard making sure of swift turn rounds ,Russ? i think that was running the stage once again was really helpful and polite , Seeing Heather and talking for a split second as she was being pulled from pillar to post and rung constantly she deserves a medal. It really was a great day and long may it continue in my opinion Big thanks to everyone who put it on i say.
