Steel Trees are fast becoming the go-to band for South Yorkshire’s grunge fans

Grunge is not a dirty word, Steel Trees tread in the musical footsteps of some great bands… Taking inspiration from sixties Hendrix, Zeppelin and Sabbath of the seventies and countless post-punk bands of the present day makes the noise they make is really difficult to date on first hearing.

In the same way that Queens of the Stone Age and Dinosaur jr manage to glue these genres together, Steel Trees span an amazing number of styles whilst firmly stamping it with a Northern Steel Trees “Fuck You!”

Well… we’ve gone and done it again…

We are super pleased to announce that we have completed a session and DBR_TV document for your enjoyment.

The Beaus joined Team DBR, Jim Lockey (Real to Reel Media) and Darren Feris (supremo recording dood) at Higher Rhythm for yet another DBR_TV session. The session this time was funded by Higher Rhythm who are a not-for-profit organisation in Doncaster.

Girl Spit Live in Session – recorded at Higher Rhythm Recording Studio.

Girl Spit, who were voted Doncaster’s best band of 2009, were kind enough to come in and record some session tracks for us. They were super nice guys and we had a blast. All recorded live, no overdubs, no whinging, they just set up their gear and played. They even turned in on time! Good work guys and thanks.

HNMTF Session IN THE BAG!

Hammer No More The Fingers recorded an exclusive session for DbR at the fantastic Higher Rhythm studios…

HNMTF recorded five, previously unrecorded, tracks at the Doncaster Studio on Monday Fabruary 8th at the Doncaster Studio Higher Rhythm. Darren Feris was holding the mics and did an amazing job (it helps when the band can play hey Darren?).

DbR’s adopted film guy Jim Lockey was on hand to film proceedings and these images, accompanied by the recorded tracks, will form a short film about the session – We’ll keep you posted on this! SINE FM accommodated the band for an interview on this morning’s breakfast show and the recorded tracks were played out sounding great.

HNMTF play the Vintage Rockbar in Doncaster tomorrow night (13th Feb 2010) so make sure you head down before they disappear back to the US.

Thanks to Higher Rhythm, SINE FM, Darren Feris, Jim Locky, Inhaler Records and of course the band for making this a success.

On Friday 10th April 2009 Rob Che and Jim Lockey headed to The Leopard in Doncaster to catch three of Doncaster’s most revered songwriters in action; John Fell (formally The Fontanelles now fronting The Incomplete), BenL of OFM and Danny Foy (formally Three Torches now a solo folk explosion). Danny, stuck in ‘transit’, didn’t make the pre-soundcheck orgy of film-making but we will be catching up with him very soon. For now you can enjoy a live track on our Jukebox – Just hit the ghetto-blaster in the left column… Anyway…
